Short Interview with CEO Carsten Knobel on Henkel’s New Sustainability Targets

Because it matters – and expectations are rising.

We see a general pushback on sustainability topics. But for us, stepping back is not an option.

Because sustainability and business performance go hand in hand. If we get it right, it drives the value and growth of our company.

It is our DNA to combine progress with responsibility. With 150 years of experience, we know that responsible action strengthens competitiveness and resilience. Now is the time to scale that impact.

We want to create even more transparency and accountability. That is why we are setting new ambitious, measurable targets. Across our entire value chain, from sourcing to the use of our products.

We are turning vision into action. We know that big visions can feel abstract. Therefore, we have set actionable, near-term targets for 2030.

And we are getting more focused to reflect the challenges of the decade ahead. That makes us even more precise and effective in driving change.

First, we are fully committed to net-zero and will significantly reduce our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions to protect our climate.

Second, we are advancing equity for our employees worldwide – including gender balance in management and pay equity.

Third, we strive for responsible sourcing. Working closely with our suppliers and raising sustainability standards across our supply chain are at the main levers.

That is our way forward – and it builds on our strong track record of combining responsible action with strong business performance.
